OTHER STI'S

In recent years, there has been a big increase in the number of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the UK.

A number of STIs have few or hardly any symptoms at all. This is why it is very important to perform safe sex and if you are uncertain or concerned about having contracting an STI, visit your local sexual health (GUM) clinic straight away. They are generally located at your local hospital, or in a separate building within the hospital grounds. Every health centre is different so make sure you phone in advance or visit their website to check their opening hours and to see whether you need to make an appointment or not, some clinics offer a walk-in service but depending how busy the centres are you may be turned away and ask to come back another day so it's advisable to arrive early. Check-ups and tests for STIs are completely free and you don't have to give your real name.
